Connecting your computer to your TV seems simple enough. HDMI is the standard type of connector found on most modern TV sets and is regularly used to connect PCs to them. The problem with the HDMI revolution in TVs is that it is mostly recent that the connector has become prominent.
Many older computers feature no such HDMI output but the way that we recommend getting around this is through a VGA to HDMI cable system. Ideally, an older PC will have a VGA output. If it does, excellent. Then, you can use a VGA to HDMI converter cable system which combines the VGA input and a stereo audio input transforming them into a single HDMI compatible signal. This can then be sent to your HDTV set no problem.
Converters such as these work with VGA to VGA cables, stereo mini to male RCA, or RCA to RCA cables. What cables you need depend upon your soundcard. In addition, you will still need an HDMI cable to connect the adapter to your HDTV.
There are some situations, such as if you have a laptop with no HDMI output and no interchangeable graphics card, that may present bigger problems. There’s not really much we can do with these kind of laptops or notebooks as they do not have the built-in tech to connect to a TV. These occasions are rare but they do happen.
Generally, there’s always a way to connect your PC to your HDMI TV. It’s just a matter of finding out how and what cables you need. If you are unsure about what you need, we always recommend taking a look through your manufacturer’s manual or even going online to see how others have done it.
Connecting your PC to your HDMI TV comes with numerous opportunities to share photos, Internet videos, play movies and TV shows, and all sorts of fun. Though smart TVs are slowly becoming the standard in the world of TV purchasing, not everyone has a smart TV and for those that don’t, the built-in HDMI input is just as good.
